For decades, CETA-DART has been the leading supplier of biopsy darts to marine wildlife managers and research scientists working with marine mammals around the world. With the acquisition of CETA-DART, DANiNJECT now ensures the product can continue to be manufactured and supplied.

DANiNJECT’s CEO, Dr. Steffen Stræde, had been in ongoing dialogue with Finn Larsen, the founder of CETA-DART, with the aim of securing his company’s future. Finn Larsen passed away unexpectedly at the end of 2024, but discussions regarding the continuation of the business proceeded through his heirs, and the agreement has now been finalized.

“CETA-DART was a project close to our father’s heart, so it’s comforting to know that DANiNJECT will be the one to carry it forward. This way, we feel confident that it will be done in the same spirit and with the same focus on quality that our father had,” say Finn Larsen's daughters, Charlotte and Christine.

A high-quality product

Steffen Stræde is delighted to continue Finn Larsen’s work.

“I had the opportunity to get to know Finn Larsen and have great respect for him both on a personal level and as a researcher and skilled craftsman. CETA-DART is a high-quality product that I know many marine researchers appreciate and rely on, so we’re really happy that we can continue to develop it,” he says.

DANiNJECT will manufacture CETA-DART at its factory in Kolding, Denmark, and expect to have production up and running within four weeks.

DANiNJECT is also working on the development of a new product, a Marine Launcher, which will make launching the CETA-DART both more precise and safer for the animals than the crossbows currently used.

“The Marine Launcher has been tested several times with good results, and we expect to be able to deliver it later this year,” says Steffen Stræde.

Investment in the marine wildlife sector

The acquisition of CETA-DART is an important milestone in DANiNJECT’s expansion into the marine wildlife sector. Over the last years, DANiNJECT has invested heavily in developing new products for research scientists and marine wildlife managers. 

“We regularly receive inquiries from people in the marine wildlife sector, who have found out that we are willing to invest in co-creating innovative solutions. There is a great need for better equipment in this area - and we believe we can deliver that through DANiNJECT,” says Steffen Stræde.
