Rifle number 0002 wins the competition

It took something special to win the competition about finding the oldest DANiNJECT JM rifle in the field. That came from Skånes Djurpark in the shape of the second-oldest JM rifle ever made.

Over the years more than 12.000 DANiNJECT rifles have been manufactured and sent out all over the world, and the first ones were sold more than 25 years ago. So when we kicked off the competition about finding the oldest one still being used - the one with the lowest serial number - we were very excited to see what would come up.

We have received an overwhelming amount of pictures from customers ranging from serial numbers in the thousands to a handful below a hundred.

About a week before the competition closed we received one, that would be very difficult to beat…

The zoo Skånes Djurpark sent in a picture of rifle number 0002 - the second-oldest JM rifle with a serial number ever made.

The rifle was bought in 2003 by the former foreman at Skånes Djurpark, Johan Lindström, but he was not the first owner. He bought it from another zoo, so it is unclear how old the rifle actually is.

Already during the first summer at Skånes Djurpark, a lot of runaway cattle were captured, so the investment in the rifle quickly paid off.

In the following years, the rifle was used very extensively to immobilize animals at Skånes Djurpark, but also to help countless farmers, other zoos and parks, as well as the police in capturing animals.

As Johan puts it: "My God, how much I have used that rifle!"

As late as last month, zoo veterinarian Karl Johan Nordfeldt immobilized two brown bears with it.
